A sweet and tart twist on the classic cocktail, this Strawberry Moscow Mule is a perfect brunch or springtime cocktail. The beautiful pink color makes this cocktail the ultimate bridal shower or girl’s night-out drink of choice.
Here in Florida, March is the start of strawberry season. There’s nothing more satisfying than spending an hour or two at a U-Pick strawberry farm and coming home with baskets of gorgeous, plump, ripe strawberries. This recipe is one of many that I make every year when the strawberries are at their sweetest and juiciest. I love the taste of lemon and strawberries together, but feel free to use lime juice or even orange juice instead.
What Is A Moscow Mule?
A Moscow Mule is a drink that originated in the 1940s and is made with vodka, fresh lime juice, and ginger beer. It may also be called a vodka buck.
It is typically served in a copper mug, which helps to keep the drink icy cold. There is some controversy about mixing lime juice and copper together, but it has been proven that one would need to drink one or more Moscow Mules every day for more than 25 years. I think it’s a low probability of the drink causing an issue, but if don’t want to take any chances, look for a copper mug that’s lined with stainless steel or just serve the cocktail in a highball glass.
What Ingredients Do I Need?
- Strawberries – pick deep red strawberries that have as little white at the top as possible. Look for berries that are firm and without bruises or mushy spots.
- Vodka
- Simple syrup – you can buy this in the mixers section of the grocery store or make your own by combining equal parts of water and granulated sugar and bringing them to a boil until the sugar is completely dissolved. Cool completely before using in your cocktails.
- Lemons
- Ginger beer
- Ice
