There is nothing better than a warm, fluffy waffle on a slow weekend morning. Luckily, the 4th of July falls on a Saturday! These waffles are fluffy, soft, and have crispy edges, with a delicious vanilla flavor.

Ingredients Needed
- All-purpose flour
- Baking powder
- Granulated sugar
- Eggs
- Whole milk – I use full-fat milk for richness, but 2% will also work.
- Large eggs
- Salted butter – If using sweet (unsalted) butter, add ½ teaspoon of salt.
- Vanilla extract or vanilla bean paste – I like to use the paste for a stronger vanilla flavor and the beautiful, tiny, brown vanilla seeds.
- Almond extract – this is optional, but I like to use it to complement and round out the vanilla.
- Greek yogurt, chantilly cream (pastry cream), or whipped cream
- Seedless strawberry jam
- Blueberry jam
- Fresh, ripe strawberries
- Canned whipped cream – I like using it because it’s easier with less mess.
- Star sprinkles, optional

Ingredients
Waffle Ingredients:
2 cups all-purpose flour
4 tablespoons granulated sugar
4 teaspoons baking powder
2 large eggs
1 ½ cups whole milk
6 tablespoons salted butter, melted
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
¼ teaspoon almond extract (optional, but adds a depth of flavor)
For assembly:
1 cup Greek yogurt, chantilly cream, or whipped cream
2 tablespoons blueberry jam
4 tablespoons seedless strawberry jam
Fresh strawberries, sliced
Fresh blueberries
Canned whipped cream
Star sprinkles, optional
Instructions
Spray waffle iron with non-stick cooking spray and preheat the iron.
Combine the dry ingredients.
In a separate bowl, whisk the wet ingredients together.
Combine the wet and dry mixes and whisk till well blended.
Pour batter into the iron and cook until golden brown. Keep the waffle warm in a 300-degree oven. Repeat with remaining batter.
Assemble the waffles on a serving platter.
Spoon whatever you are using for the base layer. I used chantilly cream.
Spread the blueberry jam over the base layer of the top-left waffle.
Spread a layer of strawberry jam over the other three waffles.
Place blueberries in a single layer over the blueberry jam.
If desired, top each blueberry with a star sprinkle.
Layer a line of sliced strawberries across the waffles.
Using the whipped cream spray, spray a line across the waffles.
Alternate lines of sliced strawberries and whipped cream, starting and ending with strawberries.
Serve immediately.
