What could be a better way to celebrate Mardi Gras than with king cake and rum? A king cake-flavored soda, with hints of vanilla and cinnamon, transforms the classic Cuba Libre into a perfect Louisiana Libre Mardi Gras cocktail.
Who knew there was such a thing as King Cake soda? I didn’t until I saw it while shopping at World Market and had to try it. By the way, it’s delicious! The flavor is much like an old-fashioned cream soda, but more cinnamon-forward. It’s worth the trip to pick up a six-pack.
Rum and Coke is a classic cocktail that uses only rum and coke, preferably with real sugar to complement the rum.
Cuba Libre uses regular coke, rum, and a squeeze of lime.
Our Louisiana Libre replaces the coke with King Cake soda and muddles the rum in the bottom of the glass before adding the other ingredients.
