White Holiday Margarita

Sip a bit of the tropics this holiday season! This White Holiday Margarita has the flavors of the islands – coconut, lime, rum. It’s creamy and refreshing. It also packs a punch with three types of alcohol.

Here in Florida, we decorate palm trees and Santa has a surfboard. With the weather still balmy and the beach beckoning, tropical cocktails work all year round and a white holiday margarita is one of my favorites. It’s sweet, creamy, and fruity. I love the flavors of the coconut and the rum.

What Do I Need To Make A White Holiday Margarita?

  • Silver tequila or Tequila Blanco – I used Patron because that’s what I had on hand, but use whatever brand you enjoy.
  • Orange liqueur – I used Grand Marnier because I like the flavor of it, but Triple Sec works great as well.
  • Fresh lime juice and orange juice
  • White cranberry juice – This adds a nice cranberry flavor without the pink color. If you can’t find it, you could use coconut water or just omit it altogether.
  • Canned coconut milk – use full fat for a decadent creamy mouthfeel.
  • Coconut cream – this is usually sold in the mixers aisle of the supermarket. Coco Lopez is the brand that I use.
  • Coconut rum – I’ve also used spiced rum, which is equally delicious. Plain rum also works great!
  • Simple syrup – just boil 1 cup water with 1 cup granulated sugar until the sugar dissolves. Cool and store in a bottle in your refrigerator.
  • Red sanding sugar to rim the glass.

Host a beachy Christmas cocktail party.

Appetizers like Cranberry Goat Cheese Flatbread, Prosciutto, Pear, And Blue Cheese Appetizers, Scallops Bruno,  and Savory Roasted Garlic & Rosemary Palmieri make a beautiful spread for your holiday party with a little something for everybody.

Ingredients

Scale

1 ¼ cups silver tequila

1 cup Grand Marnier

1 cup fresh lime juice

¼ cup orange juice

½ cup white cranberry juice

1 cup canned coconut milk

¼ cup coconut cream (I used Coco Lopez)

¾ cup coconut rum

½ cup simple syrup

Red sanding or decorating sugar for the rim of the glass

Instructions

In a large pitcher, mix all the ingredients except the sanding sugar.

Add ice to a cocktail shaker and pour in a portion of the margarita mixture.

Shake until the outside of the cocktail shaker is icy cold.

To serve, dip the rim of a margarita glass into lime juice.

Pour some red sanding sugar onto a shallow plate.

Dip the rim of the glass into the sugar to coat evenly.

Allow the rim to dry before straining the margarita into the glass.

Enjoy.
