Ranch dressing is very popular in our home.  We use it to dip french fries, onion rings, pizza crust…I could go on and on.  I love that I can whip up this dressing in less than 10 minutes and offer them something fresh and without all the preservatives.  They love it too!

Ingredients Needed

  • Avocados – look for ripe, but not mushy avocados.
  • Buttermilk – I’ve used both low-fat and whole-fat in this recipe and they were equally delicious.
  • Mayonnaise
  • White wine vinegar – for a more pronounced vinegar flavor, use distilled white vinegar.
  • Worcestershire sauce
  • ½ teaspoon Worchestershire sauce
  • Sour cream
  • Garlic
  • Salt and pepper – I used white pepper, but any pepper will do.
  • Onion powder
  • Fresh parsley, fresh dill, and fresh chives

Steps To Make Homemade Avocado Ranch Dressing

Don’t you love a recipe that basically has only three steps?

  1.  Puree all the ingredients, except the fresh herbs.  Pour the dressing into a jar.
  2. Stir in the fresh herbs.
  3. Chill for at least 30 minutes.

What If I Don’t Have Buttermilk?

Did you know there is a great hack for buttermilk?  It won’t be as thick, but it’ll be every bit as tasty.

The rule of thumb is to use 1 tablespoon of acid for every cup of milk.  You could use white wine vinegar, lemon juice, or lime juice.  Give it a stir and allow it to sit for about 5 minutes.
