If you’re looking for an Apple Cider Cocktail, look no further. The combination of caramel vodka, butterscotch, and apple cider is the perfect combination.

This is a sweet cocktail, so it works best as either a dessert cocktail or served with salty appetizers like Game Day Reuben Dip, Classic Pimento Cheese, Bacon Wrapped Onion Rings, Crispy Spicy Roasted Chickpeas, or Jalapeno Poppers.

WHAT DO I NEED FOR THIS COCKTAIL?

  • Caramel flavored vodka.  I’ve tried the whipped cream, the birthday cake.  Get the caramel.  It’s amazing and adds just enough caramel flavor to the drink.
  • Butterscotch Schnapps – this adds that buttery flavor that a caramel apple has. You’ll want that too.
  • Apple cider – You could use apple juice, but cider has so much more flavor
  • Apple slices to make it pretty, but sprinkle some lemon juice over it first so that it doesn’t turn brown.

You could rim the glass with superfine sugar, cinnamon-sugar, or even caramel sauce, but I think it’s sweet enough as it is.  But, if you want to make it extra special, rim away!  And actually, this salted caramel sauce is a great sauce to rim the glass.  That kiss of salt just adds a little something interesting and cuts through the sweetness.

Why an Apple Cider Cocktail?

The autumn is one of the best time to enjoy evenings outside with friends and family, and apple cider is always a thanksgiving classic. Specifically for Thanksgiving, this cocktail is a nice pairing with saltier foods and will please your audience for sure. If you’re finding it a bit too sweet, you can add more lemon to balance, or even apple juice instead of cider.

Hard cider has gotten considerably more popular over time, and this drink is the ideal compromise for your friends that prefer hard cider, but want the kick of Vodka.
