BRAZILIAN CAIPIRINHA COCKTAIL

A Brazilian cocktail of Cachaca, lime, and sugar served in a highball glass garnished with a slice of lime.

This Brazilian cocktail is considered the national drink.  Cachaca and lime muddled with sugar and served over ice makes a delicious, and strong libation.

Ingredients

Scale

1 lime, cut into slices

11 ½ teaspoons superfine sugar

2 ounces cachaça

Instructions

In a Hi-Ball or Old Fashioned glass, place 3 or 4 lime slices and the sugar.  Use a cocktail muddler to press as much of the juice from the lime slices.

Pour in the liquor and stir until the sugar dissolves completely.

Fill the glass with ice and stir again.

Garnish with a slice of lime on the rim of the glass.
