You can never go wrong with a Monte Cristo sandwich! Your friends will be wowed by this delicious recipe. It’s the perfect blend of sweet and savory. We guarantee that it’ll leave your friends wanting more.
We recommend using sourdough because it’s good-quality bread, and deli ham that’s on the sweet side. Brown or honey hams are good choices. You can even use both.
Add Swiss cheese and use a mustard that you like. You can add tomatoes if you want, but that’s optional. This sandwich doesn’t require veggies.
Classic Patty Melt
Ah, the ultimate comfort food! We love the patty melt, and we’re sure it’ll be a hit at the picnic. Start by caramelizing onions and then use ground beef to make patties. Add spices of your choice into the mix and then cook the beef patties until they’ve shrunk a little.
Grill sourdough and then add the patties to it. For the sauce, we recommend using thousand island dressing. You can also add cheese and mayo to it if you want!

Skip the Coffee, Go With Chai
And last but not least, we recommend skipping the coffee and, instead, going with Indian chai! It’s very easy to make and will complement your food.
All you have to do is boil tea leaves in a cup of water. Add two cups of milk and a little bit of sugar. Let it boil until the tea changes color. We recommend letting it cook for 15 minutes.
