Eating a healthy and balanced diet is one of the best things you can do for your physical and mental health.

Coupled with regular exercise and good lifestyle habits, eating healthy food can be a powerful combination to help you avoid some serious illnesses and diseases in the future. Studies have found that at least 80% of heart diseases can be prevented by following a healthy lifestyle and diet.

Here’s how to incorporate more healthy foods into your diet!

Eat More Protein

Protein is known as the building block of human life and the king of all nutrients. Increasing your protein intake can help you feel full for longer and retain muscle mass. This improves your metabolism, helping you lose weight without actively restricting calories.

To incorporate more protein in your diet, aim to add a protein-rich ingredient in every meal. This can include anything, from eggs for breakfast to mini protein bars for snacks. Good protein sources include milk, yogurt, nuts, chicken, salmon, beans, and peanut butter.

In addition to meats, you can get protein from stuff like yogurt and Skyr while also providing many other health benefits. Getting your protein from diversified sources is a key step in building a health diet lifestyle.

Limit Processed Foods

Limit or cut down processed foods from your diet completely. These foods are stripped of their natural vitamins and minerals during processing, with sugar and salt being added. This includes all types of fast foods, chips, cookies, deli meats, white rice, and white bread.

Instead, opt for healthier choices that are minimally processed since they retain some of their natural properties. These include salad, frozen vegetables, eggs, milk, cheese, brown rice, and dried herbs. When going grocery shopping, make sure to include all of these in your cart and experiment with adding them to your meals.

Bake or Roast

Instead of grilling and frying your food, try to roast or bake your food. Grilling and frying food can form severely toxic compounds, which have been linked to several deadly diseases. If you want to incorporate healthier foods into your lifestyle, we suggest baking, roasting, or simmering vegetables and meat.

To include more baked or roasted elements in your daily lifestyle, all you need to do is prepare some vegetables or meat with low-fat ingredients beforehand. There are several resources on the internet that you can use to find out healthy and low-fat recipes for vegetables and meats that bring out their earthy flavors, leaving you satisfied and healthier at the same time.
